Back Seat Love

If you don't like the live version, I think the recorded one is a bit better.

Laugh Out Loud

Mimosa's at Sunset

Instead of doing our homework, Julia and I decided to go to West Cliff and watch the sunset. We brought snacks, champagne, and orange juice for our little date. With the tsunami warning, the waves were bigger than usual. The moon was incredible as well. Santa Cruz is a beautiful place.

Dance with Me

On February 12th, I went to the Ed Banger Soirée in New York City at Webster Hall. The music was incredible. I danced my ass off! The drinks were cheap and there were 4 levels of electronic wonderfulness...

Justice, Sebastian, Busy P, Mehdi, Feadz, Mr. Flash, So Me, RekLes, Disko Dali and many more!

We ended up at Southside later that night to see some LA bros. The energy was good and it was fun, but Ed Banger was incredible.

On my last night in NYC, I danced at Juliet until I had to take my plane at 6am. Little did I know then that I would be delayed 2 hours, miss my connection on Minnesota and have to beg my way onto a flight to San Francisco... It was all worth it though.

A Weekend at Home

Last weekend, I found a round trip ticket from SFO to Burbank for $99! Go United!!
After almost missing my flight because the shuttle driver was taking his sweet ass time to take me to the airport, I ran through airport to find myself breathless at my nearly departed plane. I sat next to a nice Romanian man that showed me pictures from his trip at Lake Tahoe. I secretly felt sorry for him because he told me that he had to go alone because he was still single.

After landing, I went from the plane to the party. That night, my lovely Manon, Eden, Daniele, a dearly missed Jon, and Jade to Avalon to see Ladytron, Vitalic, and Acid Girls. It was sickkkkkkkk!! We had the stage to ourselves, not because no one was on it, but because we were the only ones dancing :)

The next day I went to have breakfast with my Mama at Millie's, my favorite breakfast place in Silverlake. And spent the rest of the weekend catching up with friends. It was a great weekend. I miss home.

Where will I go this weekend? Since I obviously can't stand Santa Cruz.

Here's a little tribute to my Mom:

I decided to go to New York on a very last minute, very spontaneous whim. I wasn't sure if I would regret it or not, but I totally didn't. It was an amazing weekend. I saw good friends and it totally recharged my batteries. I had some great food, partied hard (Ed Banger on Friday was SICK) ... I love New York so much!

I had the travel day from hell on Tuesday but it was so worth it. I miss New York and I miss my friends :( Santa Cruz is a harsh reality today.

Delicious Salmon Bowl

Photobucket

Make Rice. Put it in the bowl.
Pour Ponzu Sauce over it. Sprinkle Sesame Seeds. Lightly pour some chili sesame oil.
Stir.

Put olive oil on grill pan. Let the pan heat.
Place Coho salmon fillet skin side down on pan.
Pour light amount of chili sesame oil on top. Sprinkle Paprika and Sesame Seeds as well. I like a pretty nice coat of sesame seeds.
Let the salmon cook until you see the cooked part reaching the top. Letting the salmon skin burn makes it really delicious and a lot easier for you to take the salmon off later.
Flip the salmon and let it cook for about a minute. I like my Salmon pretty rare.

Place salmon, skin side down, on a plate then gently pull it off the skin. This way you can look for bones. When all the meat is pulled off, put it on top of the rice. Then sprinkle a little bit of garlic salt and add a bit more ponzu sauce.

Stir and enjoy.

Some might think this is gross, but I like to munch on the really crispy parts of the salmon skin.

This is dish is super easy and super delicious :)

Because Soundcloud is being annoying...

Pilates

So my house mate Julia and I started Pilates about three weeks ago and we love it. Our studio is located on the east side of Santa Cruz at Pleasure Point Beach. The drive over is beautiful...

We still kind of suck at it, because it is very difficult. But i can definitely feel myself getting stronger which is the point. And believe it or not, I feel taller. Pilates is supposed to lengthen you and my other house mate even noticed that I was either getting taller or standing more upright.

I laugh sometimes too, because I always laugh. But Julia once made a comment that one position called hundreds where you have your legs extended in the air, your head raised, while your arms pump at your sides 100 times, made her feel like we were in birthing class. So now it makes me giggle every time we do it.

You feel great after Pilates, not exhausted, but energized. I am so happy I started it!

Photobucket
Here I am looking "super excited" to go into class.

Maybe when I get better, I'll be able to post photos of Pilates positions :)

My Human Evolution professor sent this to me. I could watch it over and over again Hahaha!

Tribute: Dave Matthews Band

Photobucket

I am a HUGE fan of Dave Matthews Band. I've seen them three times in concert. The Rose Bowl and Golden Gate park were incredible shows. I also saw them at the Convention Center. That was a sad show because their saxophonist Leroy died that day. I can't believe they still played. They were still great but the venue had no character and the crowd was kind of douchy.

I am definitely the only one of my friends that loves DMB. Some compare him to country, but I would say they are more soulful folk. What I love most about DMB are his lyrics. They're heart-wrenching. Some could say that I fell in love with DMB, because I was in love with the person who introduced me to them. But I have definitely established my own personal admiration that will continue throughout my life.

Dave Matthews is a poet with a wonderful sense of humor. He caters to the hopeless romantic aspect of my personality. Here are some of my favorite songs and lyrics. It was hard to narrow it down. They take some getting used to, but at one point, the switch goes off and your a die hard fan. At concerts, I can truly feel praise, borderline worship, all around me. They also happen to be way better live than in the studio.

3-07 Break Free (Live) by skyesmith12

"I drink your poison if you fill the cup
You make me crazy, baby, don’t let up
But if I’m falling I don’t wanna stop
I’d give up everything to have your love"

07 Crush by skyesmith12

"Lovely lady, let me drink you, please
I won't spill a, drop no, I promise you."

1-03 Stay or Leave by skyesmith12

"Remember we used to dance
And everyone wanted to be
You and me
I want to be too"

"Hey, my love,
you came to me like wine comes to this mouth
Grown tired of water all the time
You quench my heart and you quench my mind"

Break Free and Crush are really good make-out songs. Stay or Leave and Two Step are fun ones to sing along to.
I really hope you enjoy them because they are amazing :)

Outside Lands

Photobucket

Last August, I went to a music festival in Golden Gate Park. The venue was amazing. The stages were really spread out, so it took awhile to get from one band to another, but it was so beautiful. I couldn't believe that I was smack in the center of San Francisco. I also really enjoyed the amount of porto-potties there were haha You didn't have to ever wait in line and the usual unbearable stench was toned down.

This is me and my friend Loren entering it on day 1.

The Heineken tent was SO fun! First of all, it was air conditioned. Second, you got beer. Third, they played really good dubstep and electro. Andrew, Loren, and I stared at the ceiling for a good half an hour. It was so realistic. People thought we were tripping, because you had the illusion that beer was pouring on you. So when the bottle would appear, we be like "uh uh uh... uhhhhhhhhh" as it "poured" over us. It was hilarious!

This is my lover Dave Matthews. I went to the festival to see him. Right before he played this song, I said in my head "Play one for me Dave" and then he played my favorite song that he rarely plays! It was awesome :D

The new line up isn't out yet, but hopefully I can make it out there again this summer.

Guilty Pleasure

Photobucket

Watch it. Love it. Embrace it.

This is one of my favorite shows. I think it was designed to entertain housewives, but it's actually amazing to watch the cultural diversity within the United States and how much people resist when forced to do something new... like exercising and eating healthy.

God Bless America
